Car accident and now I can't draw...It's temporary. I'm in physical therapy for it, three times a week. It's hard and painful but in a good way. Hopefully I'll be back to drawing soon.
Also my work laptop (and because my hips/legs/whole lower body really is crippled and has been for a decade, it needs to be a laptop so I can work comfortably from a bed or couch depending on pain levels) is getting old and failing at things.
So my husband set up a gofundme over this way to raise money to get me a top of the line laptop that has the capability to run everything I need a computer for, so I can work from the couch on bad days and even work if and when I travel (because working from home is great and all but cabin fever is a real and very annoying thing... even if all I do is visit friends a couple hours away for a week or so, it's awesome to be able to do that AND work)
I miss art. I'm going a bit nutty not being able to draw... it's maddening. I've lost a lot phys
Why I Fail at Daily Drawing//Update//
A small update-- There will definitely be a drawing event based on process, not product, and the goal of building the habit to draw every day, rain or shine, happy or depressed, busy or lazy.
It'll begin some time in June, and will last for 3 weeks (21 days). I've gone ahead and started a group for it so that it'll be easier for me to organize and easier to share experiences and support others trying to get a routine just like you.
If you want to participate, or just watch to see how it all plays out, go ahead and join:

In my Personality Poll, :iconzombieceli: brought up the subject of motivation. I've been contemplating, investigating and experimenting with this topic a lot the last few months and being an INFJ, I have to write it out! LOL
There's this really interesting (and terrifying) transition for a lot of artists. When we first started drawing, writing, painting or whatever it wa

Notes on Character Design
I received the question pictured below at my tumblr blog. In case it's useful to anyone here, I decided to go ahead and use this otherwise dormant journal to share the article I put together in response.
Character design and drawing are tome-sized topics and even if I had all the answers (I don't - I have a lot to learn), I'm not sure I could communicate them effectively. Here are some thoughts an ideas that might help, though.
First, some general things...
Let some of that anxiety go. This isn't a hard science. There's no wrong way,
please help, need phone, gas, food.I'm almost finished with my current crop of commissions and it's time to line up some more. Mama needs some phone minutes and gasoline. I REALLY need the phone minutes. I pay $25 a month for a limited amount, the cheapest I could find anywhere. Noah's working a bit, but without the phone, no one can get in touch with him. It's a catch-22 and I'm mad at myself for allowing this to happen. I'm juggling too much and stuff keeps slipping through my fingers.
Readers, if you do not need a commission, perhaps you know someone who does? I'd greatly appreciate it if people would spread the word about my $20 portraits. You might mention the fact that sometimes, I go a little crazy and paint a $20 portrait like I would a $50 portrait. Bad for business, good for you.
Also, I haven't outright said this before, but if you toss me $5, I'll do something for you. Sketch, avatar etc. There's no minimum to hire me.
If this wasn't the internet, I would be holding an actual cardboard sig

I want to thank everyone who contacted me from the bottom of my heart. I am so incredibly humbled by the responses. Umm, not good with emotions right now. Can I just say I freakin love dA, and every one of you people, so much it hurts? I do.
I was asked to put up the paypal address I use; it is email@example.com
Soon I will be able to paint digitally again...feels like my life is about to restart. I am so happy right now
I have been a member of this site since I was 17. Now, I am nearly 27 years old. This website was a huge part of my life and my artistic development. I have met so many amazing, talented, fantastic, generous, wonderful people here. From the moment I first picked up a stylus you have been there for me, cheering me on, teaching me what I needed to know.
So, what happens when you're a digital artist, and the tablet you've been using for ten years finally dies, and you can't afford a new one?
